January 14th-17th, 2005
Our
trip back to Kisumu from the Rangi Centre took over two hours. It is a distance
of around 125 kms. The weather in Kisumu was considerably hotter than up in the
foothills of Rangi. We had no chance to rest as Joel wanted to have a lunch by
Lake Victoria. Arne, Tim and Joe went with them while David stayed in the Hotel
to catch up on the web page and pictures as he now had power which was not
available in Rangi. After returning from the Lake, we headed right out to the Nanga
"slums" as they are called to the New Covenant Pentecostal
Church - Nanga to preach the gospel. The "slums" are adjacent to
the wealthiest section of town where all the big [really big] houses are. Quite
the contrast. It reminded us all so much of Haiti when we travel through that
place.
At
Nanga we all got to share a greeting or such to the congregation. The
choir was there to sing for us. Bro. Henry does such a great job with them. They
harmonize so when in the traditional African way. David is recording them as he
can to make a CD for them when he gets back. Our friends from the last time,
Bishops Sebastian and Oniango [Paul] were one hand to greet us. What a blessing
to see them, especially for Bro. Joe. Tim sang two prophetic welcome songs that
the congregation really loved since there were a lot of English speakers in the
crowd. He danced and moved and they loved it dearly. David then shared on the Ephesians
1:15-17 on Paul's prayer for the Ephesus believers'. The spirit of
wisdom is an interesting topic to look at in regards to this aspect of
God. The congregation was extremely blessed and reiterated much how the Word of
God preached was for them. Both Bishops also came and declared how it had
touched them. It was one of those sharings where you don't have time to prepare
but all that God has worked in your heart comes forth in a powerful way. Praise
God! After the message the team prayed for people and for Joel and some
other ministers.
After downloading the website at the tail end of the morning, we
headed out to the New Covenant Pentecostal - Arina Church. This is the
main church in the fellowship of NCP. David recorded the Choir for the
first couple hours. They went through ten songs. Many in English and Swahili.
Bro. Joe stayed in the hotel due to his not feeling well. The service began
around 3 p.m. and went until 5:30 p.m. Tim sang a prophetic song which had
the whole congregation singing "I Will Praise Him".
Someone had asked him to sing the song from the night before, not understanding
the prophetic ministry. Arne Then shared on Philippians 2 and after a short
break Tim shared on "We Should Be to the Praise of His Glory." After
the service we had a meal a Madame Joyce's. Her place was around the corner from
the church. We had a sumptuous fare of Talapia, Roast Meat, Stew, Rice, Cabbage
Salad and Chapati (Fried Flat Bread). There was alot of good conversation as we
knit hearts with a bunch of pastors and bishops. It seems that they go through
the same things with their congregations that we go through here in the United
States. Joe was feeling better as we arrived back at the hotel.
One note of blessing was that we saw our housemaid Maria from
our first trip in 2002. Her smile was so beautiful as ever. She told us of her
deliverance of the growth on her neck. It had been there for 15 years and was
very irritating. The operation to remove the growth was 25,000 Ksh and was also
very dangerous as the growth was near the carotid artery. One day over a
year ago she felt something burst in her throat. After much working up from the
back of her throat, two big hard stone like things emerged from her mouth. She
had been delivered. Our God is worthy to be praised!!!
Today
we got up all refreshed for our last full day of ministry and what a full day it
turned out to be. Joe was feeling better so we headed down to our breakfast in
the New East View Hotel. This hotel is owned by the same people who own the
Imperial Hotel around the corner. After Bro. Joel picked us up we headed out to
Madame Joyce's home to have tea which is actually another breakfast. We all
laughed at the confusion in our understanding. From there we walked around the
corner to the New Covenant Pentecostal - Arina Church where the services
were held for Sunday. The place was full and ready to receive. We really have
grace with these people. They want us to teach them the Word of God. The Choir
sang three songs which David recorded and Tim sang once again in the spirit
which was truly amazing as he sang to them and we all sang the chorus. David
shared on Ephesians 1:18-23. It was a continuation of the Friday sharing.
After the teaching the team all said their goodbyes. This included a minstrel
goodbye song from Tim. They really love him here! They love to sing along with
the choruses.
After
the five hour service we went back to Madame Joyce's home (she in the New Covenant Pentecostal
General Secretary) for lunch with some pastors. Once again the conversation
was around the Word of God and getting a pastor/leader conference in town to
teach them the meat of the Word of God. They saw the need for it and are sure
that other churches would be interested also. Of course they want to do this in
the NEAR future. We will pray and see.
After
lunch we headed off to Nyamasaria home church (which used to be in a
building but due to complications they had to move out) where we had a short but
very sweet time with about thirty plus saints. We sang, Tim and David played
some spiritual songs and Arne taught a short teaching on the The Parable of
the Sower/Bearing Much Fruit. After that all the team shared something in
the so longs. David ended by sharing his heart for the saints there and what it
takes to come on trips like this. Bro. Joel paid him many complements as well as
the other team members. He said that he learns a lot from us when we come and
respects us to listen to our instruction and wisdom in ministry. He humbled
himself in front of his people and it was very touching for them. We left with
great rejoicing as they sang us away in the taxi van.
Once
again we found ourselves at Madame Joyce's for Tea and dinner. The fare there
was sumptuous at all times. We had great conversations which built our love for
one another and David was able to speak into the all the Pastor's lives. He
declared the vision of how God works in leadership and this led to some great
conversations about our love for each other and how we can maintain our
relationships. We prayed about a couple situations and then after dinner we
headed back to the hotel for a soda and bed. Tomorrow we leave for the States to
arrive there on Tuesday night. It has been a trip of great grace and that is
what all the prophecies declared before we left. As it turns out New Covenant Pentecostal
Church is celebrating their tenth anniversary this year (grace, grace). God
you are so good. My Jesus we love you we know you are faithful and true to
perform that which you've promised in the Word of the Living God. We trust you
enjoyed the updates and the pictures.

We have found many different Children's Homes on this trip. They are all in need of support. Should you be led to contribute by either monetary support for building projects or supporting the children's daily needs please contact us at the contacts below and we will assist you in your giving. God Bless you and to those you who helped us in this endeavor, may the Lord reward you for your help. We could not have done it without you. We love you. See you soon.
