Hallelujah!
The adventure begins. Our flights from JFK to Nairobi were absolutely the best.
Even though we were an hour late leaving from both JFK and Amsterdam we arrive
at both destinations a half hour early due to some substantial tailwinds. Just a
sign of the Lord going before us. At Nairobi airport a gentleman took us aside
and brought us through the visa process without a hitch. We bypassed the line of
people and they just stared at us as we passed them all by. Before we left,
brother Arne had a word about "grace, grace." We were seeing the start
of all of this. Our luggage was already on the conveyor so we gathered it all up
and met Pastor John Kairu, who was waiting outside the doors. He took us to our
accomodations for the night, the Hillcrest Hotel. Very quaint but nice. The
first thing we did after settling in was order some of favorite sodas, "Stoney
Tangawizi" One the treats from our first trip which Tim did not
truly appreciated, but we respected his right to be wrong. We had a continental
breakfast the next morning and headed out to Engineer in the North Kinangop
Region.
On
Thursday the 30th, we headed out from Nairobi to Naivaisha via the Rift Valley.
Then we arrived at the Jesus Revival Centre as a seminar was being taught. We
were all very tired so we all greeted the congregation worshipped with Tim and
then we headed to Pastor John's home for some rest.
The
next morning on Friday the 31st, we begin to teach on the Holy Spirit field to
about 75 people. People kept coming in during the session until there were over
200. David opened up with "What You Are Made Of." He
showed them that they were spirit beings made to house the Holy Spirit. Tim then
shared on "The Holy Spirit is..." where he covered
aspects of these uses in Romans. After Lunch Joe Cahill taught on "The
Authority of the Believer" and initiated prayer for deliverance
afterwards. Arne finished up with "The Promise of the Father."
After this around twenty were led into the baptism of the Holy Spirit evidenced
by speaking in tongues. What a great day and yet the fun was just about to begin
in the night.
On Friday night, New Years Eve, we got back together at 10:00
p.m. for a celebration time. David gave a testimony along with a evangelistic
message. Four people gave their lives to Christ that night. The building was
packed with people jammed in all the doors and outside the building. When we all
began to worship at a quarter until midnight the place erupted in a joyous roar.
When we reviewed the pictures from that night we saw "bubbles" on many
of them. The first time that I had seen these was while with Van Tanner of Hope
of Glory Ministries. He had told me that it happened on their pictures when
the Holy Spirit moved big in meetings. That was definitely what was happening
here. People were stirred in many ways. It really began to happen when the beach
ball that Arne brought was tossed out into the crowd. See for yourself in the
following pictures;

On
Saturday, January 1st we had the day to go to Lake Naivaisha Resort to view the
Hippos in the Lake. This lake has the largest concentration of these
animals in the world. We took a boatride onto the lake where we saw these
massive creatures gliding through the water with such grace and ease. We also
saw some giraffes on an island, many fish eagles, Monster pelicans, flamingoes,
zebras, wildebeest, and waterbuks. It was a wonderful time. We took this journey
with pastor John because the congregation was cooking at the church for the big
10th Anniversary celebration on Sunday where they expect two thousand people for
the day. We look forward to that.
Sunday
was quite a celebration. People from all over the town came to the church to
celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Jesus Revival Centre. There were over
20 pastors from other churches in town to celebrate this great event. David
preached a message on Ephesians 1:15-21 along with all of our
missionaries singing "Who is Like the Lord." The church was
packed with people sitting all over the grounds. When the feeding began, it was
handled decently and orderly to the point that everyone had received their first
portion in less than an hour. The estimated for the amount of people fed was
over two thousand. Of the three thousand paper plates bought for the event,
there were only a few hundred left. What a blessing! A greater blessing occurred
at the end when three young people came forward to receive Christ. A few younger
children joined them shortly and within minutes there were around thirty
children praying to receive Christ. Praise the Lord! The church went into a song
of great rejoicing. Hallelujah! Our God is so good!
Monday we headed off into Naivaisha for Pastor John to take care
of some business. In the afternoon we headed off to Hell's Gate National
Park to go to the Masai Cultural Centre. On the wat there we saw Zebra,
Hartebeest, Warthogs, Giraffes, Gazelles, Water Buffaloes and Ostriches. David prayed to see the
ostriches run. They just kept grazing. We visited Fischer's Tower which many
people climb. Some of the English Special forces are trained on this rock. When
we got to the Masai Centre, our guide named Jackson took us into the gorge form
by volcanic eruption two generations ago. This was the gorge used in the filming
of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. What a trip down to the river. Yellow
sulfur rocks all over. Hot water coming out from the sides of the gorge. Jackson
told us of the leopard that prowled the canyon after dark. The Masai were trying
to kill it because it was taking their goats. The scenery at the bottom was
"gorge"-ous. The Masai lived in this area until the eruption, which
killed many of their people. Hence the name Hell's Gate. On the way back we saw
two ostrich right in the middle of the road. As we approached them they began to
pick up speed to a nice trot. An answer to pray in due time. Praise God, He is
good all the time.
Today we head to Kisumu to meet with Bro. Joel Otuoma to begin our western leg of our journey.
