Kisumu Rangi Migori N. Kinangop Aberdare
We arrived in Migori early Thursday afternoon. There were
pastors waiting at the Leaders Conference where we were to minister. David
immediately began to share with them regarding “Faithful Stewardship and
Speaking in Tongues”. Approximately 15-20 came up to receive the baptism
of the Holy Spirit. We then broke for lunch. Joe got his first whiff of a public
outhouse. When he came out, Pastor Alan said to him, “Brother, you're in
Africa!” We guess that Joe’s facial grimace gave him away. After lunch
they bombarded David with questions regarding the Holy Spirit. This was a
prelude of what was to come. David had had a dream the night before regarding
the next place that we were headed. What he saw was many people with tribal
masks on. That masks that were on were the religious traditions that the church
had taught for decades. We were there to break up the fallow ground, expose the
weeds and plant good seed. After questions we headed out to the Gilly Hotel, our
abode while for the next five days.
That night we went to Migori Worship Center for a revival
service. They had electronic instruments. It was quite different from the
previous days but still extremely anointed and powerful. There were about 50
people there. Joe shared on “The More Abundant Life”. Afterwards five
people came up to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Demons were cast out.
Time to go to bed. We are tired. “Very tired” (Joe), “Very, very tired”
(Arne).
Friday we headed out to the Leaders Conference after we
took care of some family business. Arne taught on “Stewards of the Manifold
Grace of God”. David went to town with Pastor John to see if he could make
a phone call since we had not been in touch with anyone since we were in London.
Later in the morning, Joe shared on “The Power of Words”, David
rescued Joe when he walked in and fielded 45 minutes of questions regarding the
millennial kingdom and the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Good time for a break
for lunch. After lunch they wanted more on the chronology of the end times. This
got into the New Jerusalem, gehenna, drinking and creation. This went on
for two hours with Arne and Joe acting as David’s research team. They were
very helpful in looking up scriptures to clarify points. Arrow komano (Thank
You!) David’s head was about to explode at the end. Pastors later came up and
thank David for the way he handled the inquisition, with honor. Before heading
back to the Gilly, Pastor John took us the 18 km to the Tanzanian border where
we walked across and checked in at the Tanzanian Control Office. It was raining
so we did not spend much time there. We walked across, checked in and then went
back. Praise Jesus the
King. Thank you Holy Spirit. You truly do bring to mind the Word of God when
delivered up.
At the evening service Arne taught on “Repentance”.
The people are very tired. Besides working all day. They walk to service on the
outskirts of town even in the rain. This was Arne at his best. When he was done,
Pastor Alan said, “If there is anyone not sleeping please raise your hand.”
Obviously there wasn’t much else to do. One the way out a mother with a small baby approached us and
asked us to pray for her daughter. The child had had a burning fever for over a
week. We prayed and rebuked the fever, spoke health to the blood and the liver.
We taught the mother to confess the healing of her child. Then we were off to an
icy Stoney and Chips Marsala before bed.
Saturday our meeting was at the Migori Worship Center. We
worshiped for two hours before everyone got there. David even picked up the bass
guitar and jammed for a while. When everyone got there David taught on “Being
Born Again of Incorruptible Seed”. This led to questions regarding, once
saved always saved, baptisms and gehenna. Like John Rankin says, it a
“love of hard questions.” After lunch with the pastors Arne taught on “Power
From on High”. No questions for Arne though. Instead they applauded. Three
people came up to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. One of them was the
mother of the child that was healed when we prayed for her the night before. The
child was there and wide-awake. One girl came up and said she was tormented by
demons. The finger of our God cast them out. Others were also delivered of the
evil spirits. Mercifully, Pastor Moses gave us the night off if we promised to
rub our knees on the floor. We agreed and were thankful. We returned to the
Hotel with no power, but that soon changed. We ate meat pies and Chips
Marsala in the room as we reflected on the past days. God performed one of
the greatest miracles of the day. Where there were no more Stoneys, one more
graciously appeared at the bottom of the cooler. Our God is good!
Sunday morning we led a man named Phillip into the
baptism of the Holy Spirit in the Hotel lobby. He saw something in us and sought
us out. He came to church with us. The church was packed. Eight hundred people
or more. It was a kicking time of worshipping Jesus the King. We danced and
danced and danced before the Lord. If your not sweating here, you are a
backslider or probably just a weak American. As you can see we are having fun
relaying our experiences. Joe taught the Bible Study on “Our Righteousness
in Christ”. Right after, David taught on “Our Authority in
Christ”. When it was over we ministered to a few people. One was in a
wheelchair. When he came he had no feeling in his legs due to a “football”
injury eight years previous. After our prayers, he could feel our hands on his
feet. Feet that had not been untouched with the love of God for years. All
healing is not necessarily immediate. We told him to confess his healing. We
headed back to the Hotel for a rest. Everywhere we go they give us Stoneys. Our
Father loves us.
We came back at 4:00 p.m. and worshipped for an hour.
Arne Taught on “Unity” and no one slept not even Joe. It was
wonderful. The sound of Arne’s voice just relaxes Joe like the voice of a
mother to its nursing child. So soothing to the soul. Just kidding although Joe
did nod of f at almost every one of Arne’s teachings. After we had a wonderful
banquet with around forty leaders from this church. Pastor John shared his
vision of the work. A 5000-seat worship center is planned, along with a training
school for pastors. It would be like the school of Tyrannus (Acts 19.9) So that
all Nyanza Province can hear the word of God in two years. The pastors then
spoke of our foray and we awaited the hard questions once again, but received
only thanks and praise to our God. We received many requested to come back next
year. We had a great meal including fried Tilapia. Excellent! They gave us two
small Stoneys with our meal.
Monday was our first day off. We enjoyed it with the
staff of the Hotel as we took pictures of them and got addresses. They said they
have really enjoyed our company. There are many Christian workers in the Hotel.
They are wonderful people. We then went to Pastor John’s house to pray for the
family of his brother. His only brother, Mark had died on Wednesday of last
week. The day before we arrived. Mark’s family lived next door to Bro John. We
ministered to the widow Mary and four children as well as Pastor John. We also
saw John’s wife Pamela for the first time. She was taking care of a lot of the
arrangements while John was with us. Afterward we hung out at John’s and drank
Stoneys. We had a nice lunch and walked the grounds afterwards. Quite a nice
piece of land. God has blessed them mightily. We headed out to the Hotel to hang
out and catch up on this site. Praise God we are caught up.
