After morning devotions in which P. Lubin shared on Psalm 24 and the King of Glory we had a wonderful breakfast of oatmeal and fresh fruit (oranges, pineapple, avocadoes). We then left for the Bethesda Church of Les Cayes to begin the seminar with the pastors and leaders. There was around 40-50 in attendance there. Some were not able to make it due to the change in the schedule. We had to move the dates up a week from what they had been planning on.
After
introducing the team to the students, I began to teach on The Ministry of the
Holy Spirit. After around an hour I asked P. Jean-Phares if I could deviate
from the notes because I felt that I needed to cover Genesis 1 in regard to the
difference between dominion and subduing. After finishing we took
a short break for a soda. It was there that we got to see the Suzuki KS125 that
we had given P. Bernard the money to buy earlier in the year. He was so
overjoyed that he wanted to share the moment with us. He brought us out there
like a little boy showing us his prize possession. We were glad to share it with
him.
After the break, we headed back into the church to take questions on what was taught. All of the questions stemmed off of the subject in Genesis that was taught. They were one the role of men and women in the church. Galatians 3.28 was reiterated, as well as Ephesians 5 in regards to women being able to function in the operations of the holy spirit.
Another
questions was on the “cutting” off of the fruit of the loins, whether that
was a sin or not. They also wanted some clarification on the custom of whether
or not a woman needed to be veiled according to 1 Corinthians 11. I explained
that the coverings spoken of here were not necessarily in a physical but more
along a spiritual covering of Christ, the man and the woman.
Another question that had some bite to it was whether a woman was able to teach in the church according to 1 Timothy 2:12-14. My explanation was that the context was showing that the focus was not on the teaching, but on the usurping of the authority from the man as the woman had done in the Garden.
The
last question dealt with forsaking the unity of one’s family for the “work
of the ministry.” This was another hot topic that has run it course. We think
that because we are “working” for the Lord that this supercedes the call to
rule well one’s house. It is but another way in which the enemy gets us
distracted from the things which are more needful. We will be held more
accountable at the Judgment Seat if we neglect our families for the “work.”
After
dismissing the students, they received a lunch of rice and beans and we headed
home for a recharge. The evening service was supposed to be outside in a crowded
area but due to rain it was moved back to the church was we had a small service.
I (David) taught on God’s Love for Us from Ephesians 1:3-6. God is blessed to
have us as children. He called us from before the overthrow of the “kosmos.”
Predestined us to His adoption of us as sons. We are accepted in the Beloved
(One) Christ Jesus.
We headed home for a meal and a good nights sleep.
