Pastor Jean-Lubin preached at the Sunday Morning Service.
The service is more traditional than the weekly or Sunday Night Service. It is
still a powerful time in the Lord. Pastor Lubin's message was on being an
overcomer and receiving the Crown of Life before the Lord Jesus. We
should all strive to become overcomers in this life. We have not become
followers of Christ to remain the way we are or were (Ephesians 2.8-10).
During
the service, Pastor Jean-Phares and Pastor Lubin dedicated two
babies to the Lord in front of the whole congregation. What a
heartwarming time.
After
the service we took a short break at the Hotel to get refreshed. This may not
seem like a busy schedule from your end, but the travel to and fro in Les
Cayes does not come fast. There has not been much time to ourselves. This
site has been updated very early in the morning since we have gotten back so
late at night. Plus we have to work around the power situation. Trying to keep
batteries charged is a logistical nightmare some days. Any time we can find a
plug we charge for camera and laptop. Whew!
After
the break, we headed out to Pastor Jean-Phares' house for Sunday dinner.
Another excellent meal provide by Sis. Gardinet and her staff of Sis.
Lydia, Yvette and Zamore. The food has been wonderful, yet this author has
still lost around 10 lbs. A good place to eat work for the Lord, and
still lose weight. Need a great diet plan? Plan to come on one of the next trips
sponsored by BEM. The picture to the
right is a picture of the tree which we aptly named 'the Binary Tree' due to
the "0's" and "1's" all over the sign posted onto
it. We won't go into details but the essence was that this was the center of all
of the universe and was left as a landmark for future space explorers. Pretty
wild when your mind can wander corporately. We laughed and joked about every
time we passed it on the way over to Pastor Jean-Phares' home. It made for many
a light time as each new "revelation" built on the others. Now
you may think that this was all a joke (as well as us) but this got even
stranger when before oneof our next trips in October 2003, the comic strip Foxtrot
ran in which the 'Binary Tree' was mentioned. Go figure. Maybe there was
some truth there, eh! I have included a scan of the strip below. To see it in
all its fullness click on it. You''ll be amazed too.
After
lunch, most off us headed out to La Cayenne Hotel for a swim. It was a
good relaxing time for us while the BEM
Board members had a great meeting at Pastor Jean-Phares' house. This was
good preparation for the Sunday Night Service at the Church.
This
night it started at 6:00 p.m. It went until past 9:30 p.m. but it was a powerful
time in the Lord. All of the team said there good-bye blessing to the
congregation. The congregation also held out there hands and prayed a great
blessing over all of us. The team also sang an English/Creole rendition of Glory,
Glory, Lord. There were many groups of worshipers that came and
ministered to the congregation.
For
Word of God, Pastor Mark shared on John 11, with Jesus Christ
being the Resurrection and the Life! He had us all hold hands and
pray a prayer together to be strengthened in the Lord Jesus. After the
preaching we sang some more wonderful Haitian praise and worship songs. Then we
gave and received many hugs and blessings from the congregation. WOW!!!
You have got to experience this for yourself. There is a powerful work of
God in this place.
The stars out his night, I have not seen the likes of them since I lived in New Mexico, 15 years ago. You could see the Milky Way in all its glory. The Big Dipper was so bright. Jupiter and Saturn got lost among the stars. Psalm 19 of a truth!
