Today
was our last official day of work on the "Mission House" at
Pastor Jean-Phares'. We mostly loaded the gravel for the post pouring
operation over by the base of the scaffold on the side of the house. There was
also a pouring crew to help the workers pour the four post that were going to
pour this day. It is so interesting to see how they get so much down with so
little. They use the wood over and over for every job. The real work comes with
the stucco man who then needs to transform these walls into a work of art.
With
the completion of the house, Pastor Phares will be able to house many
missionaries that come through the area. The money that will be saved from the
spending at the Hotel will enable more monies to go towards the work of the
missions and the building of the School next to the Church. Please pray for a
speedy completion of these tasks. We see the Lord Jesus doing many
mighty works through His people and these buildings. That many may come into the
Kingdom of Heaven.
After
a nice lunch of meat pies and ham sandwiches, most of the team went swimming at Gelee
Beach a couple miles west of town. It is the cleanest beach in the area.
Probably the only real tourist attraction left in the area that is still
somewhat clean. The team enjoyed an afternoon of swimming in the very warm Caribbean
Sea. They came back refreshed, ready for the evening service.
At
the evening service, the team girls (Sarah, Rachel, Jackie & BJ) along
with Sis. Ylonne from Les Cayes, sang the song Sanctuary
in both English and Creole. The congregation was not really sure what to think
when they started singing in English but when they sang it in Creole the really
got into. This was on a night when there was another choir that sang songs in
both Creole and English. What a Body of Christ!
Pastor
Dave Scovel was the preacher at the evening service. His message was on the
text of Ephesians 2.11-18. How that we were once Gentiles according to
the flesh, aliens from the promises of God. Without any hope and even without
God in this world. Yet through the sacrifice of Jezikris (Jesus Christ)
we have peace were we once were at enmity. He, Himself is our peace, who has
broken the wall of separation down, that separated us from the promises of God.
It is He who gives us the introduction into the Holy of Holies
where the Father resides. We now have the authority to come into the
presence of the Almighty through the blood of Christ. The call is
now to come. Let us COME!
